Why is attendance important?
We don’t just care about compliance with the law. We cherish and celebrate you! Learn about ways school attendance impacts everyone.
Attendance Policy, Regulations and Becca Bill guidelines, as required by RCW 28A.225.010:
All absences are considered unexcused until family contacts the school
WIHS will call, email, and/or text families through an automated system.
At 3 unexcused absences within a month WIHS will schedule a conference with the family and student to discuss barriers to the student’s regular attendance, review supports and resources available and plan steps to support the student
Missing 10% or more days of a school year, about 2 days every month, for any reason, excused or not is defined as chronic absenteeism. We understand that circumstances arise that may impact regular school attendance. We aspire to maintain an open dialogue with students and parents to address any concerns or barriers that might affect attendance.
